Area: 6,800 SF plus 3,500 SF rentable retail space
Project Details: The Ashland County Dog Shelter is the result of a collaborative vision and partnership between Ashland County, the Ashland County Community Foundation, Homeward Bound, the Norma Foundation, and the generosity of many local businesses and individuals. Simonson Construction Services, Inc. was awarded the lead Design-Build contract for the dog shelter. Given the specific functionality needs of space, SCS hired Susan Allen of TC Architects to provide expert animal care facility guidance.
The facility features six “pods” comprised of 68 kennels, exterior dog runs, an adoption-friendly welcome lobby, an interactive “meet and greet” play space for owners and their pets, and 3,500 SF of rental retail area.
