We are honored to have been recognized with numerous construction awards over the years! We’d like to say thank you to all of our loyal customers and employees who made the following awards possible.

2022 ABC Excellence in Construction Awards

• Salvation Army Kroc Center Water Park received an Excellence Award and was a finalist for Project of the Year.
• Primary Colors of Ashland, Ohio, received an Excellence Award
• Westview Healthy Living Wellness Center and Skilled Nursing Facility received a Merit Award

2019 ABC Excellence in Construction Award

The SJE Rhombus project was our showcase project this year.  Within the 59,000 SF building, the interior space includes 10,000 SF of front office area, 8,000 SF of mezzanine office area, 8,000 SF of future mezzanine expansion and 33,000 SF of manufacturing area.  SCS was the CM-at-Risk for this project, but we also self-performed several packages such as the site development, steel erection and general trades.  We are proud to add this to our showcase of awards.

2014-2015 ABC Excellence in Construction Award

We submitted the Mt. Vernon Nazarene University Arial Arena project this year for the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter).  This was a 68,933 SF addition which not only housed an arena, but many other accommodations for the university. This beautiful project was successful and received the top award in its category.

2012 ABC Excellence in Construction Award and Project of the Year Award              

Not only did the General Electric – Bucyrus project receive an Excellence in Construction Award from the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards banquet, but we also received Project of the Year.  Receiving recognition for this 3-year project was an honor.

2012 ABC Excellence in Construction Awards

In 2012 we submitted the Ashland University – Dwight Schar College of Nursing and General Electric – Bucyrus projects for the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter). Both were outstanding projects that were well deserving of recognition. Both projects did exceptionally well and received the top award in their categories.

2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 ABC Accredited Quality Contractor

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) presented Simonson Construction Services with the Accredited Quality Contractor award. Fewer than 10% of 23,000 ABC members across the country obtain the AQC title.

2011 ABC Excellence in Construction Award

We submitted a project we completed for Novatex North America to the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter). We were once again successful and received the top award in its category.

2010 ABC Excellence in Construction Project of the Year Award & National Pyramid Award

We submitted the Ashland University Stadium Complex project for the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter) and received the top award overall, the Project of the Year.  This project was then submitted to the National ABC Excellence in Construction competition where we earned a Pyramid Award in the Institutional category. “This project is an outstanding example of the innovation and commitment to superior craftsmanship that embody merit shop construction,” said Michael D. 2010 ABC Excellence in Construction Award

At the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter) we submitted the Ashland University Dwight Schar Athletic Complex.  We had a successful year and received the top award in the Institutional category.

2009 ABC Excellence in Construction Project of the Year Award

Simonson Construction Services, Inc. submitted the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center project into the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter). This competition recognizes “the best of the best” in the construction industry. The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center received top award overall, the Project of the Year.

2007 ABC Excellence in Construction Award

Hospice of North Central Ohio project received top award in the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter). This competition recognizes “the best of the best” in the construction industry.

2006 ABC Excellence in Construction Awards

Ashland University’s – Dwight Schar College of Education and the Arthur L. and Maxine Rybolt Recreation Sport Sciences Center projects received top awards in the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter). This competition recognizes “the best of the best” in the construction industry.

2006 ABC Excellence in Construction Project of the Year Award

Simonson Construction Services, Inc. submitted the Ashland University – Dwight Schar College of Education project into the annual Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction awards competition (Northern Ohio Chapter). The College of Education received a perfect score, and was named Project of the Year.

2009, 2010 & 2014 STEP Platinum Award

Simonson Construction Services, Inc. was presented with the Platinum Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Northern Ohio Chapter. In receiving this award, we have joined a group of five out of 266 members in the Northern Ohio Chapter.

2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 STEP Gold Award

Simonson Construction Services received the Step Award for its Gold level of achievement and its ongoing efforts in the development of a quality safety program.

2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 & 2018  STEP Silver Award

Simonson Construction Services received the Step Award for its Silver level of achievement and its ongoing efforts in the development of a quality safety program.

2022 Heritage Ohio Annual Awards – Best Downtown Placemaking Award

Ashland’s Foundation Plaza received the Best Downtown Placemaking award at the Heritage Ohio Annual Conference. Simonson Construction was responsible for designing the space. The Ashland County Community Foundation’s generous financial support allowed this design to come to fruition.

2019 Heritage Ohio Annual Awards – Best Commercial Facade Improvement Award

Simonson Construction Services, Inc. and Good Deed Entertainment (owner) was recently recognized for the Best Ohio Commercial Facade Improvement Project during Ohio’s annual Preservation and Revitalization Awards ceremony.  Most recently, known as the old Gerald’s building, it was originally constructed as a Montgomery Ward’s clothing store.  SCS renovated the front façade of this historic building back to its original condition. 

2016 Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce – Spirit Award                                      

Selection for this prestigious distinction is an accomplishment of which the management and employees of Simonson Construction Services, Inc. can be proud. The Spirit Award is given to those who are recognized for their unfaltering dedication to service.  “Simonson Construction Services, Inc. has enhanced the quality of life in Ashland County by demonstrating leadership in volunteerism, energy, creativity, and philanthropy…” ~ Senator Keith Faber, President of Ohio Senate.

2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 Ashland Area Safety Council – Multi Award                          

For four years, Simonson Construction has received two awards from the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce/Safety Council.  Our first award was a “Group” award for having the lowest incident rate and our second award was for working an entire year without a lost-time injury or illness.  

2015 Small Business and Professional Services Business of the Year                    

Simonson Construction was a finalist for the annual Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce Member Award. Under our category of “Professional Services”, we are proud to announce that Simonson Construction Services was awarded the 2015 Business of the Year.

2005 Metal Construction News                                                                                     

Simonson Construction Services, Inc. earned top honors by being named 47th overall in Top Metal Buildings with a total of 172,437 Square Foot Buildings in 2005.

2005 & 2008 Nucor Sales Achievement Award

Simonson Construction Services, Inc. earned these awards for surpassing $400,000 (2005) and $1,000,000 (2008) in building purchases from Nucor.

2003 Esteemed Builder Award

In recognition of our commitment and contribution to the Kirby Building Systems, we received this award.

2001 & 2005 $3 & $4 Million Kirby Award

In 2001, Simonson’s surpasses the $3 million milestone in the sale of pre-engineered components in Kirby Building Systems. In 2005, Simonson’s surpassed another milestone by topping the $4 million mark.

2001 Kirby Outstanding Market Penetration
