Scope: SJE Rhombus is the leading water/wastewater controls solutions provider and systems integrator with over 40 years of expertise. They were in need of a larger building that could provide them opportunities for efficiency, quality, service and growth. SJE desired a modern building that would provide them with abundant natural light and the manufacturing production areas to be on a single floor. As an expeditious project, Simonson Construction broke ground the last week of April (2018) and SJE Rhombus had occupancy at the end of November (2018).
Within the 59,000 SF building, the interior space includes 10,000 SF of front office area, 8,000 SF of mezzanine office area, 8,000 SF of future mezzanine expansion and 33,000 SF of manufacturing area. SCS was the CM-at-Risk for this project, but we also self-performed several packages such as the site development, steel erection and general trades. The building shell consists of architectural precast concrete panels with steel bearing capacity and structural steel roof framing. The front office area is full of light shelves, clouds, all glass openings and stone tile walls. Open and closed office areas, conference rooms, a training room, break rooms, locker area, shower rooms and storage all give the facility a crisp modern look. The factory area includes 7 shipping & receiving bays, material storage, assembly, fabrication, research and development, utility room, repair shop and the mezzanine, currently created to hold storage, also includes a conference room and office.
